Zophar was born 1790 in Connecticut. Zophar died after 1850 in La Salle County, Illinois. Zophar was the son of Ebenezer HOLCOMB and Chloe BACON. Zophar married Lucy GODDARD about 1811 in Connecticut. She was born 1798 in Connecticut (Goddards of Granby, CT), the daughter of Issac GODDARD and Rosanna HOLCOMB. Lucy died after 1850 in La Salle County, Illinois. The HOLCOMBs book by MacPherson has Zophar written a Tophar (p. 192).
They had 5 children:
1. Harlyn HOLCOMB was born 1812 in Connecticut. Harlyn died after
1880 in La Salle County, Illinois. He married Miranda BROOKS about 1834 in Ohio. She was born 1816 in Ohio. Miranda died after 1870 in La Salle County, Illinois. They had 6 children.
One of Harlan children was Nelson HOLCOMB and he was born 14
Mar 1835 in Larain County, Ohio, died after 1900 in Woodbury County, Iowa. Nelson never married, always lived with other family members.

5. Warren Jarvis
HOLCOMB was born 12 Mar 1830 in Schoharie County, New York. Warren died about 1861 in Denver, Arapaho County, Colorado. He married Sarah Elizabeth "Sally" BASS. She was born 31 Oct 1834 in E Orange, New York, the daughter of Unknown BASS and Margaret LIVINGSTON. Sarah died Apr 1917 in Watson, Atchison County, Missouri, and was buried Apr 1917 in Correctionville, Woodbury County, Iowa. They had 4 children.

Other Possible spellings in documents or books TOPHER/ZOSSHAR In the census records the double "s" as if it were a strange looking "P" (Old documents such as wills would use this letter in place of the "ss" such as pofefions = possessions). In the BIBLE: Book of Job, Chapter 11, "The Teachings of Zophar"; so Zophar is probably the more correct spelling.
